Can I perform a virtual machine replication between ESXi Free hosts?
ABSOLUTELY YES, with no restrictions.
Iperius Backup is the only software capable of performing incremental virtual machine replication even between ESXi Free hosts.
Naturally, Iperius can also perform virtual machine backups (both in incremental and differential mode, via CBT) and backups or replications from host to host directly on a datastore, between any ESXi hosts, regardless of whether they are connected to a vCenter server or are part of an ESXi cluster. Therefore, Iperius represents the most complete and effective solution, and especially with an affordable price, for VMware ESXi backup and replication.
Setting up an incremental virtual machine replication from host to host (both with ESXi and ESXi Free) is an extremely simple and fast operation. You only need to select the source host, the virtual machines to replicate, and the destination host. Iperius handles this type of replication very efficiently, as the data copy (i.e., the VM disks) is done in block level mode. This means that, after an initial full copy, the subsequent replications (or synchronizations) will transfer only the changes, that is, the modified blocks on the disks, speeding up the process. This can also be considered a “forever-incremental” mode.
The end result is a cloned and replicated virtual machine in real-time, ready to be started in case of failures on the original machine, with minimal impact both in terms of space and bandwidth usage.
